Hey guys, I am a mother of three originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. We made the move across the country to Drumheller, Alberta to a town where we knew nobody to start two brand new careers and raise our daughter. A few years later, after two miscarriages we got pregnant with our twin girls who we welcomed to the world early at 29 weeks gestation. They had a lengthy NICU stay and now I am here telling the story of our journey through preterm labour, a NICU stay and life thereafter. The last 5 years have been some of the most difficult and trying years of my life thus far. Along with all of the struggles I have been blessed with a healthy family and I could never ask for more than that. I talk about my experiences with postpartum depression, birth trauma and NICU trauma not to scare pregnant women but to bring us all closer together in this season of our lives. We are not alone in our struggles and we can bear it better together.
It all started with our Brooklyn girl. I had Brooklyn on my 23rd birthday and it was then that I knew we were going to be extremely close. She is my best friend, she is a tiny version of me and she is growing up to be a beautiful person. When Jonathans brother died, we knew we wanted to use his name in some capacity (Brandon) but when we found out the twins were both girls we decided to stick with the B names in his honour instead. That's when we welcomed Briar our small but fiesty twin A. She is silly, independent and definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. Next was Brielle who entered the world through a dramatic birth. Our twin B who continues to bring the drama to every situation even today is also the snuggle bug of our family. That gives you the three Honeybees that we have today.
